Career Tips To Take And Wear

Conventions offer great learning and career opportunities. But a great first impression is a must – and that comes with the perfect ensemble. Where to go? Well, with the main UNITY host hotels mere blocks from Chicago’s fashion-centric “Magnificent Mile” on Michigan Avenue, shopping is made relatively easy for anyone who wants to look classy, hip or casually chic at the convention.
WHAT TO WEAR:
- Comfy shoes (Praise be to the flats!)
- Classy dresses
- Subtle accessories to help you stand out (ex. some trendy jewelry)
- Complimenting separates (complimenting, not matching)
- Dress shirt and slacks (tie optional)
- High-wasted skirts. They’re in and they’re slimming. (with an accent-color belt)
- Dressy jeans. Proceed with caution – usually only the best fashionistas can pull this off. At the very least, get a second opinion.
WHAT NOT TO WEAR:
- Flip flops or tennis shoes. They’re good to and from, but not for the serious events.
- Over-the-top colors and patterns. You want to be noticed, but for the right reasons.
- Heavy clothes
- Summery or short dresses
- Huge or baggy shirts. Keep it neat and clean-cut, but not too clingy either.
