A few years ago the mayor of Chicago issued a challenge. He urged every city department to become more eco-friendly. In response, the city’s replacing the surfaces of 13,000 alleys in every neighborhood, and the result will improve the way its sewers work. Reporter Jonathan Lebron visited some of these “green alleys.”
